We explore the central North Island’s best singletracks. Our experienced guides show you fast flowing trails through scenic native and plantation forests, volcanic peaks and sparkling clear rivers. We show you the trails and secret spots that combine experience from years of exploring and riding with a finely tuned itinerary.

This tour is based out of Queenstown, in the lower South Island. We spend 5 days in and around the southern lakes area. This landscape contrasts heavily with the North Island, huge wide open landscapes and glacial river valleys. There is plenty of fine singletrack and Speights Old Dark (the local brew) or Pinot noir - a fine red wine waiting when you return.

Departure Dates 2006/7: 20th Nov 2006, 15th Jan 2007, 19th March 2007 (note that these dates follow on from the North Island trip above, so you can combine 2 weeks of riding if you wish)

This tour is based from your choice of Rotorua accommodation, we pick up a coffee at Zippy's Cafe then head into the Whakarewarewa Forest to ride what some call the best singletracks in the world. That's a big call, but these trails are really sweet, built by mountain biking trail builders over the last 10 years, each one a slice of riding paradise. After 3 or 4 hours of riding each day there are plenty of opportunities to relax in Rotorua's world famous geothermal hotpools, or to visit other attractions in the area such as the gondola & luge, white water rafting on the Kaituna river, Maori cultural shows etc. If you wish you can make use of Southstar's exclusive shuttle service that takes you the top of Tawa Rd, the highest poin in the Whaka forest, from where you can take your pick of trails.
